As we go through life, step by step, many of us become more and more enmeshed in family matters, shaping careers and other responsibilities, and life is taken over by them. In this way, we can lose a crucial part of the joy and wonder that was available to us in the days of our childhood. As a result, a craving grows for all the many things and experiences that form a substitute for the “real” flourishing of our lives. Thus, we begin to lose ourselves and become a “consumer”.
The practice of mindfulness, along with other factors, has the power to bring us back to what is significant and important in our lives. It has the potential to reconnect us inwardly with the joy that we have often lost and may be grieving for.
