Tatsudo Nicole Baden Roshi is the guide during the eamba retreat from January 2nd to 7th 2025 in Bremen Germany.

Nicole is a Dharma Successor of Zentatsu Baker Roshi in the Dharma Sangha Soto Zen Lineage.
She has been practicing Zen since 2001 and received Dharma Transmission in 2017. She graduated as a psychologist from the University of Oldenburg in 2008.
She also trained at the ‘School for Body Mind Centering’ for four years.
Since 2009 she has been living and practicing either at the Crestone Mountain Zen Center or at the Zen Buddhist Center Schwarzwald (ZBZS) in Germany. At present, she is Director and a resident teacher at the ZBZS.

In September 2024, Nicole was ceremoniously and officially inaugurated as abbess, and the teaching staff was handed over to her by Baker Roshi.

Tatini Petra Schmidt attended the ceremony: “I look back on the ceremonial weekend with gratitude. It is not easy to find the right words for what all participants were able to experience together on so many levels. The days were characterised by encounters and connection, the tangible power of our common ground, our practice, beyond the wisdom of all lineages. Shunryu Suzuki Roshi (Baker Roshi’s and Nicole’s teacher) describes change and transformation like this: Everything we see is in flux, just losing its balance. The reason why everything is so beautiful is because it is out of balance. But in the background there is always perfect harmony. This is how everything exists in the world of Buddha nature: it loses balance against the background of perfect harmony.”

Given the enthusiastic feedback from previous retreat participants, the eamba Board is joyful that the upcoming eamba Retreat can once again be organised with Tatsudo Nicole Baden Roshi. You are welcome to participate either on site or online.
